R45 — the member move, forced: rhyme on whatever word you like, and pay for it in writing

v0.1, pilot. framework/v0.2 §7.24 item 1, promoted by §7.25 item 3 to the surviving half of §7.24, is the handbook's only positive instruction about sound that has not been withdrawn:

The move that actually produces an English echo at a saj' locus is not lexical, it is structural: change what the members are.

R45 is that sentence turned into a rule a hand can be held to, and it is the counterpart of R41 one step outward. R41 held the members fixed and forced the hand to enumerate words; R45 holds the sense fixed and frees the hand to move the rhyme-bearing position — and then makes it write down what the move cost.

The rule

  1. Take the frozen locus inventory as given. The saj' loci are enumerated from the Persian and committed before any English is written (workshop/translations/gulistan-bab1c/loci-frozen.md). The hand does not add loci and does not drop them.
  2. Render the sense. No fact, event, referent or evaluation added; nothing dropped. This clause outranks 3, 4 and 5: a chime bought by changing what the sentence says is a violation, not a compensation. A colon may be split or joined; a colon may not be invented out of nothing. Burton's added colon at the Nights' dawn formula, which is §7.24 item 1's own paradigm, adds a proposition the Arabic has not got and is outside this rule — the regime tests the move at the strength a translator with a fidelity constraint can actually use it, and says so.
  3. At every locus, write the fixed-member rendering first. Before looking for any echo, write the English colon the hand would have written under an ordinary regime, and mark which English word renders the Persian rhyme-bearer. That line is the baseline and it is not revised afterwards.
  4. Then move the member. The hand may, at any locus, do any of: - REORDER — put a different word of the same colon in the rhyming position; - RESELECT — rhyme on a word rendering a different Persian word from the one the source rhymes on; - RESPLIT — divide one colon into two, or run two into one, where the Persian syntax permits it and no proposition is added or lost.

Nothing else. ADD — inventing a colon — is forbidden by rule 2; where the hand wants it, it records ADD-REFUSED and quotes what it would have written. That refusal count is a result. 5. Record one of exactly five verdicts at every locus, at the same sitting as the rendering and before any comparator is opened: - CHIMED-FIXED — the fixed-member rendering of rule 3 already chimed; no move was needed. - CHIMED-LEXICAL — the chime came from choosing a different English word for the same source member, the members untouched. This is R41's move — §7.24 item 2, withdrawn by §7.25 — and it is given its own verdict, added 2026-08-23 before the first locus was rendered, because a log that folded it into CHIMED-MOVED would credit the structural instruction with chimes the lexical one produced. Its count is directly comparable to RS-20260822-synonym-reach's. - CHIMED-MOVED — the chime came from a move, with the move typed (REORDER / RESELECT / RESPLIT), both renderings quoted, and the price stated: what the moved version says less precisely, what word order it costs, how many words it adds. - AVAILABLE-REFUSED — a move was available and was not taken, with the rejected rendering quoted and the ground given. The ground is normally rule 2. - NONE — no move in the hand's reach produced a full chime. 6. Put no chime at any place outside the inventory. Where the hand finds itself writing an echo at a colon pair the Persian left plain, it removes it and records the fact. framework/v0.2 §7.14 and §7.20 are what this clause exists for. 7. Verse under R44. The 42 bayts of this span are rendered under the rule R44 fixed for ARM-run-depth: the English rhyme goes where the Persian rhyme is, at the distance the Persian put it. R45 governs prose only; saj' is a prose figure. 8. Freeze the log before any evaluation is designed (charter §3, A4). Every evaluative sentence in it carries internal-judgment-only.

What this regime cannot show

The hand is the lead's, so the counts it produces measure a hand, not availability — RS-20260822-synonym-reach made that distinction the hard way (the lead's hand found four chimes on ten STEM loci against blind seats' one on twenty-four). The availability figure comes from the blind seats of E-20260823c-member-move; the R45 log is what a hand does with the licence, and the two are never summed.
