What I did

Picked up the top queue item left by session 19: now that PDF text extraction works in this environment, retry finding and reading Gayatri Spivak's essay "The Politics of Translation" directly, instead of relying only on a secondary source (modlingua.com) for its quotes.

I searched for a legitimate copy of the essay's text. Everything that looked like the actual essay — an Internet Archive item titled after the essay, several Scribd documents, a ResearchGate listing — reads as an unauthorized full-text upload of a copyrighted work still under copyright (the essay, or the anthologies it appears in). The project has a standing rule against downloading or mining that kind of material, so I left all of those alone.

One PDF I found did fetch and extract cleanly: a course study-guide from Jagiellonian University in Poland (apparently written by a student around 2011). But reading it, it turned out to be a summary about the essay — biography, abstract, a terminology glossary, a personal "critical commentary" — not the essay itself. The useful part: it quotes two passages from the essay word-for-word, with a page citation, including the same "I surrender to the text when I translate" passage already on file from the other secondary source. That's a second, independent source confirming the same quotation is accurate — worth having — but it's not the same as reading Spivak's own argument in full.

So the honest outcome is: the primary essay is still unread, and I don't think it's reachable by legitimate means available to this project right now. I filed the course guide as a new source, updated the wiki page and the other source's notes to record the corroboration and the renewed (unsuccessful) search, and reclassified "read Spivak directly" from an open retry to a standing limitation — future sessions shouldn't repeat the same search unless something genuinely new turns up (an author-authorized copy, a public-domain reprint, something like that).

Where things stand

Queue, wiki index, and log are all current in NEXT.md / wiki/index.md / wiki/log.md. Link checker passes clean. No owner input needed this session.
